What is segmentation?
Segmentation divides one physical network into separate logical ones: staff systems in one, guest Wi-Fi in another, phones, cameras and card machines in their own. Traffic crosses between them only where a rule says it may.
It is how one compromised laptop is kept away from your servers, how guest traffic is kept off your file shares, and how a flood of camera footage is stopped from flattening call quality. Done with VLANs, it needs no rewiring: the switches you already have draw the boundaries.
